How I Can Help
FULL DEVELOPMENTAL ASSESSMENT
At your child’s initial appointment, they will undergo a thorough developmental assessment. I will ask you for a detailed medical history and will also ask you about your child’s developmental milestones.
I will then examine your child through play and a variety of activities and assessment techniques looking at their movements, motor skills, balance, gait and muscle strength.
INDIVIDUALISED THERAPY
After assessing your child, I will highlight key areas that they will need to work on. These may be specific exercises or more functional activities. These functional activities are usually incorporated through your Childs day at home and with me during physiotherapy sessions. These activites and exercises will be progressed at the right stage for your child.
NURSERY AND SCHOOL VISITS
I offer nursery and school visits if it is appropriate.
Sometimes it is beneficial for me to go into your child’s nursery or school to ensure that they are aware of any physical difficulties your child may be experiencing and how best to manage and help your child achieve their maximum potential in school.
MAXIMISING YOUR BABY'S DEVELOPMENT
I offer proactive physiotherapy sessions to provide parents/carers with education and advice regarding baby/infant positioning and handling in order to promote the development of key gross motor skills. During these sessions I will also share ideas regarding play and advise on equipment that is likely to aid development. These sessions are usually most beneficial in your babies first six to nine months as once you know what to do you will be able to implement the ideas in the coming months. Group sessions can be arranged.
CONDITIONS TREATED
Private Children's Physiotherapy may be necessary if you are having difficulty obtaining an NHS referral, or if there appears to be a long waiting time for NHS Physiotherapy. Your child may also benefit from additional therapy to compliment therapy received from the NHS.
